Conference Venue
PDC 2010 will be hosted by the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS).
UTS is a young university formed at the beginning of 1988 from the former NSW Institute of Technology and soon merged with the Kuring-gai College of Advanced Education, the School of Design, and the Institute of Technical and Adult Teacher Education. It is a University focused on practice-oriented education with strong links to industry, the professions and the community, and with a growing research reputation and a strong commitment to internationalisation.
The university is situated at the edge of CBD and right next to the city’s major public transport hub. It is very easy to get to of from by train or bus, or by foot if you are staying nearby.
Members of the Participatory Design community will be interested to know that the main UTS building, known as the UTS Tower is, against very strong competition, regularly voted in the top 10 of the most ugly buildings in Sydney. But the locals have become fond of it and it is a highly visible landmark to orient those not familiar with the city. The PDC conference will be held in the building next door to the Tower and the workshops just across the road.
